Our last promise to Dad, was to take care of Mom. Finding in home dementia care was a true task, then we stumbled on “The Other Daughter”.  Our emphasis was to ensure that we could safely keep Mom at home and to maintain some independence and dignity as long as possible. We were in need of a companion to keep Mom on task and to help with various other duties….doctor’s appointments, simple household chores, shopping , cooking, or the occasional overnight just to mention a few.

Each of the caregivers bring companionship and their own special flair; whether it be an outing, something special for the day at home, remembering that special someone’s birthday,  or the extra effort to make a holiday truly special. Mom loves the outings;   a trip to the park, out for lunch, a little bargain shopping, a movie, or her favorite an ice cream treat.

Embarking on this journey we did not know quite what to expect.  With each passing month “The Other Daughter “ staff  continue to amaze us with their true compassion and willingness to help.  All of their efforts and dependability have made it possible to stay true to the promise that we made ….for that we will be forever grateful!

The Other Daughter, LLC was an incredibly wonderful help for seven years while I was responsible for my elderly aunt with dementia who lived in a nursing facility 1,100 miles away. Lori and Carla visited her often, sitting and talking with her, assessing her current situation, and then reporting to me about their visits.

With extensive professional experience in assisting her clients, Lori was able to assess my aunt's declining situation, communicate with nurses, doctors, and social workers on site, and help the facility staff and me communicate knowledgeably.

When I could not be on site, Lori helped move my aunt from an apartment to a nursing facility, and into several subsequent rooms as she needed increasing levels of care. Lori was also of tremendous help with final affairs when my aunt passed away.

Given the challenges of managing a loved-one's affairs from afar, I can truly say the confidence I had in Lori Dugan's The Other Daughter, LLC, proved to be of enormous comfort to my aunt and me. I always knew what I needed to know as decisions about care were needed, and I knew Lori would follow through promptly on our decisions. I honestly don't know how I would have managed my responsibilities without The Other Daughter, LLC.
